D\u00e9finition de pixel<\/h2>\n

\"\"Les pixels sont les \u00e9l\u00e9ments les plus petits qui constituent une image num\u00e9rique. Le terme pixel, pouvant \u00eatre abr\u00e9g\u00e9 par \u00ab px \u00bb, tire son origine de l’expression anglaise \u00ab picture element \u00bb qui est litt\u00e9ralement traduite en point \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire ou \u00e9l\u00e9ment d’image. En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, le pixel est de forme rectangulaire et sa taille est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de 0,18 mm et 0,66 mm de c\u00f4t\u00e9. On distingue tr\u00e8s difficilement les pixels les uns des autres lorsqu’ils sont assez petits.<\/p>\n

L’unit\u00e9 d’affichage du pixel<\/h2>\n

\"\"Un pixel c’est le plus petit \u00e9l\u00e9ment affich\u00e9 sur un \u00e9cran ou un t\u00e9l\u00e9viseur et auquel il est possible d’associer une couleur et une intensit\u00e9. Chaque pixel est constitu\u00e9 par un point lorsqu’il s’agit d’un \u00e9cran en noir et blanc. En revanche, chaque pixel correspond \u00e0 trois points qui sont de couleurs primaires RVB (rouge, vert et bleu) lorsqu’il s’agit d’un \u00e9cran couleur. Il est ensuite possible d’afficher diff\u00e9rentes couleurs lorsqu’on varie l’intensit\u00e9 de chacun des trois points.<\/p>\n

La r\u00e9solution d’\u00e9cran<\/h2>\n

\"\"La r\u00e9solution de l’\u00e9cran est d\u00e9termin\u00e9e par la quantit\u00e9 de pixels qui le compose. Celle-ci s’exprime en points par pouce. On utilise l’abr\u00e9viation PPP ou DPI pour cette unit\u00e9 de mesure. Un pouce \u00e9quivaut normalement \u00e0 2,54 cm. Une r\u00e9solution de 300 dpi, par exemple, correspond \u00e0 300 rang\u00e9es et 300 colonnes de pixels sur un pouce carr\u00e9 de surface. Autrement dit, 300 dpi correspondent \u00e0 90 000 pixels. L’unit\u00e9 de mesure m\u00e9gapixel (1000 x 1000 pixels) est la plus utilis\u00e9e pour exprimer la r\u00e9solution d’un capteur photographique.
\nIl est \u00e0 noter que la r\u00e9solution d’\u00e9cran est souvent confondue par la d\u00e9finition d’affichage. Cette derni\u00e8re correspond plut\u00f4t au nombre de points qui constitue une image.
